2022 is on track to be a huge year for weddings, which is great news for those of us in the floral and wedding industries. Perhaps you or someone close to you is getting married this year, so read on as I pass on to you a few of the trends this year, according to Vogue magazine.
Themed Parties
Weddings themselves are seemingly remaining traditional, but the festivities surrounding the actual wedding ceremonies and reception are another story. Welcome parties and rehearsal dinners are all about fun and whimsical themes…think “Seaside Clambake”, Rodeo, or Cinco de Mayo Fiesta (especially fun if your wedding is in early May!) …such as this festive photo from Style Me Pretty:

Silver Accents
The trend this year is all about silver, whilst putting gold on pause for a bit. Upgrade your reception table with floral centerpieces in silver compotes, as seen on MarthaStewart.com :

Open-Air Tents
An open-air tent allows guests to be protected from the elements (here in Texas, we need shade on a summer afternoon!) and feel more comfortable then being crowded in an enclosed space. This photo, from The Knot, depicts such fun pampas grass centerpieces in an open-air tent:

Hanging Floral Installations
These floral additions truly bring the drama! Last summer, I had the pleasure of assisting one of the florists that I admire so much, Bows and Arrows, on a wedding here in Dallas. We spent the better part of two days creating and installing a huge ceiling installation to hang above the dance floor at the Four Seasons. Below is a photo of this wonderful memory and spectacular installation:

Colorful Palettes
The muted hues and all-white color schemes are taking a back seat to bright, vibrant, color. I love this quote from Tara Fay, an event designer in Ireland, “Couples want to celebrate in technicolor! They want to sit at a living table, resplendent in florals and dine under ceilings of florals and lights.” Photo taken by Mademoiselle Fiona featured on Brides.com:
